USA ROAD TRIP - SUPER 8

In 2017 myself and a few of my best friends went on a road trip across the USA. I bought along a Super 8 camera to capture some of my favourite moments. Here they are.

we touched down in the summer as wide eyed youths meeting the sun kissed earth of california for the first time as that earth soon turned to road and that road turned to rivers that flowed from mountains straight to the city of angels that was every bit as filthy and fun as the desert city of sin where we bathed in the blinding lights and adrenaline rush of smokey tables where treasures were won and lost as dawn rose and four tired misfits found their souls entombed in a crystal cube though it did not sway their path to the hurricane of zion where the monuments in the valley stood like titans who carved grand canyons and hewed peaks for angels to land before turning to lakes of salt and rock fallen from the moon as the path would take us to greener pastures and slower lives of idaho falls where yards had no fences and diners served americana on a plate with butterscotch milkshakes while you watched sapphire skies turn to yellowstone parks that stank of sulfur in a place of colour and silence fraught with wild bison that chased us north to wyoming through the shadow of the rockies and then to colorado springs for shirts and repairing broken things before our straight shot from the sand dunes to the rodeo that turned cruel amidst the crowds and cowboys who led us through thrift stores in texas to meeting an old friend in time for the nasa gift shop before our descent into deep south where lightning and thunder rained on the bayou and spiders filled the trees while our appetites grew for danger and fried gator as we danced amongst the olds and the heat at the riverside bar all captivated by the sound of music and the southern drawl that echoed through bourbon street and cresendoed into trumpets and jazz that filled the night with freeform delights in a haze of oysters and beignets that made it hard to say goodbye as the midwest called our names for some moments of quiet and rest before the final road snaked to the big city in the east as the mountains of earth and rock turned to steel and glass and it was here where we discovered how good it was to be young and alive and how good it is to still be young and alive
